Vice President launches his biography

Vice President Faisal Naseem has launched his biography. The book was written by Ahmed Saail Ali.

The book was launched by Chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Zahir Hussain at a special ceremony on Vice President Naseem's 50th birthday. The ceremony was attended by members of the Vice President's family, his close friends and colleagues, as well as parliamentarians, state dignitaries, and senior government officials.

The biography chronicles the life of Vice President Naseem from his childhood and details his experiences during his education and work, political work, social services and his personal life. The book contains numerous untold stories about his life and includes interviews with various individuals, including President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who described Vice President Naseem as honest and trustworthy person who is diligent in his work.

Vice President Naseem, who entered the workforce at an early age from a job in the tourism industry, is notable for his social services. He has been involved in social work since 1986, and worked to solve the challenges faced by the people of Fuvahmulah. In the early 1990s, he established a voluntary organisation called Faisal Foundation and conducted various social activities through the organisation in different parts of the Maldives for the health, education and sports sectors. In addition to these efforts, he is known for helping and advocating for the rights of people with special needs and others in need of social assistance.

Additionally, Vice President Naseem is also involved in tourism and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of Birmingham, UK. He holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Cardiff Metropolitan University. He entered politics in 2004 as a member of Parliament to draft the Constitution while representing Gnaviyani Atoll. In 2014, he won the parliamentary seat as the representative of Kaashidhoo constituency and became the running mate of incumbent President Solih in 2018.

Since winning the presidential election, Vice President Naseem continues to work for social causes through the government. As such, he is the Chair of the Social Council. Unlike previous vice presidents, Naseem is notable for working closely with the president sincerely without his own agenda. He will become the first vice president to complete a five-year term with the president.
