RTL system does not store banking info: MTCC

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) system does not store customers' banking information.

MTCC stated that it is continually improving the RTL service based on customer feedback and highlighted that it received a report of a security issue in the RTL application earlier this month. The state-owned company assured that the necessary security measures were taken and the issue was resolved immediately, while efforts are being made to further strengthen system security.

Additionally, MTCC emphasised that it does not store customers' banking information beyond what is required for secure payment processing. The company also stated that the RTL system operates in compliance with the security standards set by partnering banks, ensuring that customer data is handled according to international payment card industry regulations. The digital devices used for card transactions within the RTL system are certified to meet these stringent standards.

Furthermore, MTCC highlighted that it is using the Bank of Maldives (BML) payment gateway to accept money and that the customer's relevant banking information is shared the bank's secure platform. Through the RTL application, users can conveniently access and purchase ferry and bus tickets online. RTL buses also accept contactless cash cards as an alternative payment method.
