Public should be familiarised with court system: Chief Justice

Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan of the Supreme Court has emphasized the importance of familiarising the public with the judicial process and the court system. He made this statement at the ceremony held to launch the Department of Judicial Administration's (DJA) public outreach campaign.

The campaign's primary objective is to raise public awareness about the services provided by the judicial courts and educate the public on how to access them. Supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the American Bar Association, the campaign aims to enhance public knowledge and trust in the judiciary.

Speaking after the campaign launch, Chief Justice Adnan noted the judiciary has been conducting its work in an orderly manner and continues to provide services to the public in good faith, in accordance with the law. He expressed confidence the campaign will successfully increase public awareness and trust in the work of the judiciary. He also emphasised the importance of assisting individuals in navigating the judicial process conveniently.

Additionally, at the launch ceremony, Chief Judicial Administrator Aisha Rizna stated that building a court-friendly society is a crucial goal for the judiciary. She mentioned that the DJA will disseminate information through written materials and various programmes during the campaign. She noted that increasing public awareness about the workings of the judiciary can help reduce complaints related to legal matters and enhance public confidence in the justice system.
