President inaugurates development projects in Meemu Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the completion of several development projects during his visit to Meemu Atoll.

As such, President Solih inaugurated the new extension building of the Mulah Health Centre during his visit to the island. The new wing will provide improved facilities and services for the residents of Mulah and nearby islands. After the opening ceremony, President Solih toured the new wing and inquired about the operations and challenges of the health centre. The new facility comprises a public health unit, a conference hall, administrative spaces, and a medical store.

President Solih officially also inaugurated the newly developed powerhouse in Raiymandhoo as part of his visit to the island. The new powerhouse will provide residents with a reliable and efficient electricity supply. The new powerhouse, situated away from the residential area, has sufficient space for extra services and eliminates the problems caused by the old powerhouse in the residential area. The power plant has three generator sets with a combined capacity of 480KW.

President Solih earlier visited Naalaafushi and Muli in Meemu to inaugurate the completion of several developmental projects in the islands. The projects included a new powerhouse and office of Fenaka Corporation Limited Office in Naalaafushi and a water supply network in Muli.

The newly built power plant and Fenaka office in Naalaafushi are modernised, with a 538KW capacity and space for 15 employees. Unlike the old power plant in the island's centre, they were constructed away from the residential area. The water supply network in Muli was developed by India-based SMC Infrastructure Private Limited and funded under the USD800 million line-of-credit provided by the EXIM Bank of India.

President Solih's administration has made significant progress in ensuring equitable development across all inhabited islands in the country. This includes improving the living standards of citizens and enabling them to live dignified lives.
