Vice President welcomes last group of Hajj pilgrims

Vice President Faisal Naseem has welcomed the last group of Hajj pilgrims upon their arrival at Velana International Airport.

Vice President Naseem has checked on the well-being of the 290 Maldivians who completed the holy pilgrimage and returned from Saudi Arabia in the final batch. The vice president was appointed to the role of Head of the Maldives Hajj Mission by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to ensure the smooth organisation and management of the pilgrimage, as well as the welfare and safety of the pilgrims.

The Maldives received 1,000 quotas for Hajj this year and the Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited (MHCL) and three other companies facilitated travel accommodations for the 881 Maldivian Hajj pilgrims who traveled to Saudi Arabia. MHCL was tasked with facilitating the travel of half of the Maldivian Hajj pilgrims while the other half of the quota was distributed among Al Haramain Hajj and Umrah Company Maldives Private Limited, Sisilfaru Hajj, Umrah Group Private Limited, and Al Manasik Al Safa Private Limited.

The Maldivian pilgrims returned on six flights with the first flight arriving on July 7.
