Vice President Faisal Naseem has highlighted the importance of collecting census data in order to understand current trends and plan for the future. He made the remark while speaking at the World Population Day function.
During the function, Vice President Naseem released the Census 2022 results and the results of the State of the World Population Report. The report is titled Seeing the Unseen: The Case for Action in the Neglected Crisis of Unintended Pregnancy.
Speaking at the function, Vice President Naseem said the census data shows the situation in different sectors of the society. He said that the information also shows the changes in the lives of the people of Male’ and the atolls.
Additionally, Vice President Naseem said that the most important work of the government is to establish equality by empowering women and provide them with more opportunities. He said the empowerment of women benefits the country and called on more women to participate in politics and decision-making.
After the event, Vice President Naseem visited an exhibition that highlights the diverse experiences of people at different life stages and promotes understanding of the gender dimension and life-cycle approach to population ageing.
