President pledges to build airport in Komandoo if re-elected

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to build an airport for the residents of Komandoo in Shaviyani Atoll if he is re-elected for a second term. He made this announcement while addressing a gathering of supporters as part of his campaign for the upcoming presidential election,

President Solih stated that if re-elected, he would develop an airport in Kudafaru, which is located in close proximity to Komandoo, within the next five years. He also mentioned that the work to establish a connection between Komandoo and neighboring Mathikomandoo would commence in July.

In addition to the airport project, President Solih pledged to initiate the construction of 300 housing units and improve water and sanitation facilities in Mathikomandoo. Furthermore, he expressed his commitment to converting the health center in Komandoo into a 30-bed hospital during his second term.

President Solih emphasised that mere talk about building a safer country is not enough; concrete actions must be taken to achieve this goal. He expressed that every citizen has the right to live a happy life, and ensuring this right necessitates the protection of fundamental rights. The government, therefore, aims to provide essential services to all residents of the Maldives without discrimination. President Solih highlighted various ongoing projects, including flood mitigation, water and sewerage systems, quality education, and the development of tertiary hospitals, as part of the government's efforts to improve the lives of the people.
