Dhivehi Bahuge Ekedamee has decided to hold various activities for Writers’ Day.
Speaking to PSM News, Consultant at Dhivehi Bahuge Ekedamee Abdul Azeez Jamaal said that the official Writers’ Day function will be held at a later date and that the academy also intends to hold a panel discussion consisting of Maldivian writers.
Additionally, Abdul Azeez said that special events will be held during the Writers’ Day function, including the publication of books, the release of special policies on writing for government agencies and general policies on the use of the Dhivehi language. He added that the results of writing competitions will also be announced at the function.
Writers’ Day is marked annually on July 8. This year’s theme is The Interest of Society, the Responsibility of Writers, and this year is dedicated to Muhammad Jameel Didi, a Maldivian political figure and poet who was famous for his writings and speeches.
