Oman Air has begun operating direct flights to the Maldives.
Oman Air launched flights to the Maldives in time for the summer season. The national airline of Oman will operate flights to the Maldives four days a week and flights will be operated from Muscat International Airport to Velana International Airport (VIA). These trips will cost USD385 per passenger.
Oman Air first introduced its services to Maldives in 2009, which ceased in 2016 due to a lack of demand. In 2018, the airline resumed flights to the Maldives and the airline is currently operating charter flights to the country during the peak tourist season. These flights will increase the number of tourist arrivals from Oman. As such, a total of 311 tourists arrived in the Maldives in the first four months of this year compared to the 309 tourist arrivals during the same period last year.
Currently, 35 airlines are operating scheduled flights to the Maldives following the recent inclusions of Batik Air Malaysia and Saudi-based budget airline Flynas.
