President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that the administration plans to improve the wage structure of the Maldives National Defence Forced (MNDF). He made the remark at the ceremony to mark the 131st anniversary of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih detailed the administration’s plans to improve the wage structure of the MNDF. He said that the salaries and allowances of officers will see positive changes once the administration's efforts to harmonise pay are completed, adding that the National Pay Commission is currently conducting the necessary survey. He added that these efforts are related to the development of the operational capability of the MNDF.
Additionally, President Solih said that the MNDF has the utmost national and individual responsibility to protect and maintain peace, stability, and harmony. He highlighted that they have steadfastly upheld the independence and sovereignty of the country, despite the global challenges. He also said that the only way to ensure the continued independence and sovereignty is to safeguard and promote regional and international security. He added that this can only be achieved through close cooperation with other countries and international partners.
Furthermore, President Solih highlighted the developments and achievements made by the MNDF over the past years. He noted that the armed forces now have servicemen and servicewomen who are highly educated and capable and who have received military training and skills. He also mentioned the role of the armed forces in protecting the country and nation from land, air, and sea threats.
