Contactors hired to expand health centres in two islands

Ministry of Health has signed agreements with contractors to expand the health centres in Lhohi in Noonu Atoll and Guraidhoo in Thaa Atoll.

The ministry has contracted Kilometre Engineering Private Limited for the expansion of the health centre in Lhohi and Coastal Engineering Solutions Private Limited for the expansion of the health centre in Guraidhoo. The agreement for both projects was signed by the Senior Executive Director of the Health Ministry Abdul Hannan Hussain.

The projects include the construction of an extension building and surrounding wall in the health centres on both islands. Both projects will be completed within 120 days. USD162,100 will be spent on the health centre in Lhohi and USD207,500 will be spent on the health centre in Guraidhoo.

The government aims to improve the quality of health centres and expand services in the atolls, which includes constructing extension buildings to increase the space and development of health centres in large populated islands to the hospital levels.
