The Maldives and Seychelles have discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The discussion was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and President of Seychelles Wavel Ramkalawan during his state visit to the Maldives.
At the meeting, Minister Shahid welcomed President Ramkalawan and his delegation to the Maldives and reaffirmed the strong commitment of the government of the Maldives to further enhance bilateral cooperation and increase collaboration at the regional and international levels on matters of mutual interest.
Additionally, Minister Shahid noted that the agreements signed during his visit will be mutually beneficial to both the people of Maldives and Seychelles and expressed hope that the visa waiver agreement will allow greater people-to-people interaction between both countries. He also reaffirmed that the Maldives stands ready to implement the outcomes agreed upon by the two leaders during the official talks.
President Wavel Ramkalawan is on a state visit to the Maldives from June 11-14 at the invitation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He is accompanied by First Lady Linda Ramkalawan and a high-level delegation including Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Seychelles Sylvestre Radegonde.
