Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Ahmed Muthasim Adnan said the main responsibility of judges it to protect the interests of the state by working justly in accordance with the Constitution of the Maldives. He made the remark at the ceremony held to appoint judges to various courts.
At the ceremony, Chief Justice Adnan said that judges should address those appearing in court with respect and give judgment with justice and fairness. He said judges are entrusted with the highest responsibility of maintaining peace and order in the country and that they should be role models with good character. He added that judges should be given the most important priority of discharging their responsibilities in accordance with the rules and regulations.
At the ceremony, Mohamed Shaneez Abdulla was appointed to the High Court, Aishath Nuzuha to the Criminal Court, and Aishath Shihab to the Villingili Magistrate Court in Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
