Japans expresses commitment to further consolidate relations with Maldives

The Maldives has expressed deep appreciation for the historic ties with Japan which have served as a strong foundation for cooperation between the two countries. The remarks were made by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel after Arima Yutaka, Director General of the Southeast and Southwest Asian Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, paid a courtesy call.

During the meeting, State Minister Khaleel commended the notable advancements achieved in the bilateral relationship, highlighting the instrumental and constructive role played by the government of Japan in supporting the development journey of Maldives.

Meanwhile, Director General Arima conveyed Japan's strong commitment to further consolidate and strengthen the longstanding relationship with the Maldives. Emphasising their shared vision, he highlighted Japan's keen interest in bolstering collaboration in key areas, including development assistance and fostering people-to-people exchanges.
