President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has concluded his two-day visit to Ukulhas, Alifu Alifu Atoll. He visited the island to participate in the national-level celebrations of World Environment Day 2023.
At the function, President Solih highlighted the administration's objective to transition the Maldives into a nation that prioritises environmentally friendly energy generation. He said that it will be achieved by shifting towards renewable energy sources and reducing the country's reliance on fossil fuels. In addition, he visited the Beat Plastic Pollution Festival. The festival showcased information about waste recycling, garbage disposal, and waste segregation. It also featured exhibits made of recycled plastic.
Furthermore, President Solih met with the members of the Ukulhas Island Council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) to gather valuable input regarding the challenges and concerns faced by the residential community. These interactions are crucial in shaping the president's developmental agenda and ensuring that it addresses the needs and aspirations of the residents.
