President emphasises environmental conservation in daily lives

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has emphasised the importance of integrating environmental conservation and protection into daily routines, considering the current global and environmental challenges. His remarks were made on the occasion of World Environment Day, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Addressing the impact of human activities on the planet and its ecosystems, President Solih highlighted the unprecedented levels of degradation our natural environment and ecological systems are facing today. He expressed deep concern that these escalating threats continue to worsen each year, posing a significant risk to humanity's survival. He also stressed the shared responsibility of individuals in safeguarding the environment from further deterioration and placed particular emphasis on the environmental threat posed by plastic products, affecting both the global community and the Maldives.

In conclusion, President Solih called upon the public to proactively abandon the use of environmentally harmful plastic products. He urged people of all ages to reject plastic and adopt sustainable alternatives, highlighting the need for a collective effort to protect our environment.
