MBC urges broadcasters to comply with code of practice

The Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) has urged broadcasters to comply with the code of practice.

In a press release, MBC urged broadcasters to promote responsible journalism in the presentation of news and information, and content by complying with the Broadcasting Act and the code of practice formulated under the act. The commission also advised broadcasters to include the perspectives of all involved in the subject matter when airing content.

Additionally, MBC appealed to journalists and media personnel covering rallies and demonstrations to adhere to laws, regulations, and journalistic ethics, as well as follow the guidelines provided by the relevant authorities to ensure their safety. It emphasised the importance of prominently displaying the accreditation card issued by the commission for those covering such events.
