Two islands to be developed in Nilandhoo lagoon for tourism

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has unveiled plans to develop two islands in the lagoon of Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll, for tourism development. The announcement was made during a meeting with the residents of Nilandhoo, where President Solih reiterated the government's commitment to comprehensive national progress and fulfilling the aspirations of every individual.

At the meeting, President Solih said the administration's overarching objective of attaining comprehensive national progress by prioritising the development of all islands and fulfilling the aspirations of every individual. He also underscored the fulfillment of numerous projects requested by the island residents during his previous visit, highlighting the completion of most of these projects while informing the community about ongoing developmental initiatives in the area.

Additionally, President Solih announced upcoming initiatives to address the residents' pressing needs, including the commencement of harbour and coastline protection projects. He also revealed plans to develop two additional islands in the lagoon of Nilandhoo, facilitating the establishment of resorts to enhance employment prospects and boost tourism opportunities for the local community. He added that the construction of a police station will soon commence on the island.

In the meeting, the residents of Nilandhoo provided President Solih with a comprehensive briefing on their urgent needs and the challenges they were encountering. They shared the community's requirements in various domains, including road construction, the need for expanded space in the council office, the development of the hospital and school, and the enhancement of sports facilities. President Solih responded by conveying his commitment to collaborate closely with the administration and relevant authorities to address the raised concerns.
