Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi has stated that the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) will soon benefit from the government’s pay harmonisation initiative. She made the remark at the ceremony held to mark the three-year anniversary of the Adjutant General’s (AG) Corps.
At the ceremony, Minister Mariya said one of the government’s top priorities was to improve the welfare of military officers and introduce new and improved rules for the housing allowance and leave for officers who are suffering from serious illnesses. She noted that these changes have been implemented and that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih aims to provide more benefits soon through the pay harmonisation initiative. She added that the administration has improved the defence relations of the Maldives since taking office and has continued to develop the national security services.
The AG Corps is responsible for ceremonial duties, civil and public affairs services, legal support, military policing services and providing expertise in the human resource and financial fields. The AG Corps also oversee the operation of the military justice system. The AG Corps carries out its mission by providing support to the geographic Area Commands. It is accomplished by incorporating elements of the AG Corps within the service support components established in the area commands.
