RDC installs first ever asphalt plant in Hulhumale'

Road Development Corporation Limited (RDC) has installed its first asphalt plant located in Hulhumale'.

RDC is currently undertaking the development of Ameenee Magu and has so far completed the development of three out of 13 segments with four more segments ready for the laying of asphalt. RDC handed over the task of laying asphalt on the first three segments of Ameenee Magu to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) due to the lack of space for the machine brought by RDC to lay asphalt. However, space has now been arranged and an asphalt plant has been installed in the Industrial Zone in Hulhumale' Phase II.

The ABC layer is currently being laid on the segments before the asphalt layer on the four segments currently under development between the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) Building and Billabong High International School. RDC also stated that it will carry out the laying of asphalt on the remaining segments.

The road development project involves paving the whole 1.7km length of Ameenee Magu with asphalt and installing a new stormwater drainage system. The project was contracted to RDC at a price of USD5.5 million.
