Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL) has said it is preparing to operate daily night flights to Kulhudhuffushi Airport, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, from May 30.
This government has developed the airport to allow flights to be operated at night. As such, a test flight landed successfully at the airport on May 13 to prepare for night flights.
IASL said it will operate daily night flights to the airport from May 30. The flights will depart from Velana International Airport (VIA) to Kulhudhuffushi Airport at 1850hrs and from Kulhudhuffushi Airport to VIA at 2015hrs.
Four of the six airports operated by Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) currently conduct night flights. They include airports in Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Faresmaathoda in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, and Fuvahmulah City. RACL said efforts are underway to by establishing night landing systems to arrange night flights in Hoarafushi in Haa Alifu Atoll and Maavarulu in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
