The Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has interviewed more than 200 individuals to be hired for the election task force for the upcoming presidential election.
The ECM stated that the job fair is being held to recruit the required number of officials for the presidential election. More than 5,000 officials are needed for the election and 12 officials are needed for the election task force.
Speaking to PSM News, Vice President of ECM Ismail Habeeb said qualified individuals have been interviewed for various posts and that the electoral body will complete the process of hiring them. He expressed confidence that the required number of workers will be recruited and that they will also be used for the parliamentary elections.
A total of 282,755 individuals are eligible to vote in the presidential election on September 9. ECM has received over 1,000 applications from individuals seeking to become officials for the election. The electoral body has stated that 5,600 supervisors, officials, coordinators, human resource officials, observers, and employees are needed for the election. Applications can be submitted online by June 22.
