Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir has visited Al-Qarawiyyin University during his ongoing visit to Morocco.
During his visit, Minister Zahir met with the President of Al-Qarawiyyin University Amal Jalal. They discussed the possibilities of cooperation with the university. The city of Fes, where the university is located, is widely described as the cultural capital of Morocco.
In addition, Minister Zahir will participate in the inaugural meeting of the Joint Commission between the two countries. The establishment of this joint commission dates back to 2019 when a bilateral agreement was signed between the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of the Maldives and the Ministry of Religious Endowment and Islamic Affairs of Morocco. The primary objective of this collaboration is to foster the promotion of Islam and enhance religious awareness. The first meeting of the Joint Commission is set to take place in Rabat, Morocco.
Accompanying Minister Zahir are Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs Shafiu Ali, and Permanent Secretary Ahmed Adeel. The delegation aims to actively contribute to the fruitful discussions and exchange of ideas during the conference.
