Foreign Minister arrives in Sweden on an official visit

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has arrived in Stockholm, Sweden, on an official visit from May 12-14 to participate in the European Union (EU) Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum on May 13.

The EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum aims to bolster the partnership between the EU and the Indo-Pacific region. Attended by approximately 60 foreign ministers from both the Indo-Pacific region and the EU, as well as representatives from Indo-Pacific regional organisations and other partners, the forum serves as a crucial platform for assessing global developments and their impact on respective regions.

The EU and the Indo-Pacific region enjoy a significant partnership, facing various shared challenges. Consequently, cooperation between the EU and the Indo-Pacific region holds immense geopolitical and economic importance. The EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum plays a pivotal role in facilitating enhanced dialogue and cooperation between the Indo-Pacific and the EU, maximising the potential for collaboration.

Previously, Minister Shahid has made official visits to Serbia and Hungary.
