The Maldives and Serbia have concluded the signing of key agreements during the ongoing visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdulla Shahid to Serbia.
The agreements signed between the Maldives and Serbia include the Agreement on Trade, Investment, and Economic Cooperation, an Air Services Agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the field of Diplomatic Education, and an MoU in the Field of Sports.
The conclusion of the agreements will not only increase the cooperation in areas such as sports, trade, and people-to-people connection, but it is also a testament to the growing bilateral relations between the two countries, according to a statement publicised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Furthermore, Minister Shahid met with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dačić and emphasised the significance of the agreements signed and reaffirmed commitment to the implementation of these agreements.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid and Minister Dačić exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in existing areas and exploring new avenues of cooperation, particularly on trade, tourism, sports, and the environment. Both ministers expressed interest in continuing to work closely together, bilaterally and in the international fora, on issues of mutual interest.
It is the second Official Visit Minister Shahid has undertaken to Serbia and signifies a step towards a greater bilateral exchange between Serbia and Maldives.
