The Maldives and Rwanda have signed a visa waiver agreement.
The Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements allows for the exemption of visas for single or multiple entry, exit, or transit for both countries' nationals for a period of 30 days. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Maldives by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Rwanda Vincent Biruta at a ceremony held in the United Kingdom (UK).
At the ceremony, Minister Shahid thanked Rwanda for its commitment to strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and conveyed hope that the signing of this agreement will increase avenues for engagement and people-to-people contact between the Maldives and Rwanda. Both ministers also expressed keen interest in strengthening the bilateral ties with the Maldives.
