The Maldives and Togo have formally established diplomatic relations.
The Joint Communique formalising diplomatic relations between the two countries was signed by the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations (UN) Thilmeeza Hussain and the Permanent Mission of Togo to the UN Koffi Akakpo.
Cultivating meaningful partnerships with countries that respect and value friendship remains a key priority of the foreign policy of President Solih. As comparatively small nations in the international arena, the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Togo paves the way for the two countries to increase bilateral and multilateral cooperation to achieve common goals in areas of mutual interest.
