India plays notable role in enhancing Maldives capacities: Gov’t

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has stated that India plays a prominent role in enhancing the capacities of defence and security in the Maldives. He made the remark during a meeting with the Minister of Defence of India Rajnath Singh at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, Minister Shahid welcomed Minister Singh to the Maldives and reflected on the longstanding relations between the Maldives and India. He also highlighted the prominent role India continues to play in enhancing the capacities of defence and security in the Maldives

Additionally, the ministers acknowledged and reviewed the significant milestones achieved through robust defence cooperation between the two countries. They also discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to defence cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to further intensify the defence cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Rajnath Singh is visiting the Maldives at the invitation of Minister Mariya. His visit aims to enhance defence cooperation and strengthen the longstanding defence and security partnership between the Maldives and India. The government stated that his visit represents a significant milestone in the relationship between the two countries as it brings a new level of dynamism and impetuous to the already existing defence ties.
