Tourist arrivals increase by 19.6% with over 666,000 visits

Ministry of Tourism has revealed that over 660,000 tourists have visited the Maldives so far in 2023, which is a 19.6% increase compared to the same period in 2022.

The statistics from the tourism ministry show that 666,830 tourists visited the Maldives so far this year, a 19.6% increase compared to the 557,445 during the same period last year. An average of 5,749 tourists visit daily and spend an average of 8 days in the Maldives.

The statistics showed that 172,499 tourists visited the Maldives in January, 177,915 in February, 173,514 in March, and 142 tourists as of April 26. Additionally, the largest number of tourists visited from Russia with 75,594 arrivals, while 66,630 tourists visited from India, 61,464 visited from the United Kingdom (UK), 52,564 visited from Italy, and 47,520 visited from Germany. There are currently 170 resorts, 13 hotels, 897 guest houses, and 153 liveaboards operating in the country, according to the statistics.

The tourism ministry aims to record 1.9 million tourist visits this year.
