Maldives and Burundi Sign a Visa Waiver Agreement

The Maldives and Burundi have signed the agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements which allows for the exemption of visas for single or multiple entry, exit, or transit of nationals of both countries, for a period of 30 days.

The agreement was signed on by the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations (UN) Thilmeeza Hussain and the Permanent Representative of Burundi to the UN Zephyrin Maniratanga. The signing ceremony was held at the Permanent Mission of the Maldives to the United Nations in New York, United States (US).

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Permanent Representative Thilmeeza thanked Burundi for its commitment to strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and conveyed hope that the signing of the agreement will increase avenues for engagement and people-to-people contact between the Maldives and Burundi. Permanent Representative Maniratanga also expressed keen interest in strengthening the bilateral ties with the Maldives.
