The Parliament of the Maldives has approved Safa Shafeeq for the vacant post of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC).
The Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions reviewed the nominations and forwarded the names of Safa Shafeeq and Shiham Mohamed, after which the parliament members approved Shafa with 40 votes in favour while Shiham received 7 votes in favour and 31 votes against.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih nominated four individuals for the MBC membership position to replace Amjad Ibrahim who concluded his term on March 15. The seven-member commission currently consists of its President Maryam Waheeda, Vice President Mohamed Fazeen, and members Ali Yusuf, Aminath Ameena, and Shifla Ibrahim.
