Gov’t receives 25,000 applications for digital driving license

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has received 25,000 applications for the digital driving license.

The ministry began issuing digital driving licenses in February, allowing drivers to view their license digitally by logging in via the Savaaree Information Management System (SIMS) Customer Portal using their eFaas account. The portal has various information on the license as well as license applications and the latest update on forms being processed.

The ministry has also made the digital driving license service available in all parts of the country, with local councils providing A-Zone licenses. The ministry stated that some users might experience issues in using the service, as it is in the first phase, and requested them to report any problems to the ministry.

The digital driving license was introduced as part of the ministry’s efforts to provide efficient and convenient services. As such, drivers can now use their smartphones to display their license via the Maldives Police Service (MPS) mobile application.
