National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT) has announced that a new version of the eFaas mobile application will be launched in June.
The application was developed and is being maintained by NCIT since 2012. The application serves as the digital identity system used by the government and state agencies to provide online services. Unprecedented improvements have been made to the service in the past four years. As such, NCIT is currently upgrading the eFaas application and launching the new version in June.
Minister of State for Environment, Climate Change and Technology Mohamed Shareef said the government is making efforts to officially launch the national digital identification (ID) card in May or June. He also said that the changes to be made to the eFaas application are important to prepare for the service.
Additionally, State Minister Shareef said the main change in the new version of the eFaas application is to clarify the features related to consent to information sharing in the application. He said that users can easily and securely login to the application without a password, one-time password (OTP), and security features for displaying digital IDs and sharing cards for various purposes.
State Minister Shareef also said the new version of the application will continue to be tested before being released to the public. He said that the 700 users who are experiencing the new version will have the opportunity to test the new features of the application with opportunities to come for more users in the future.
So far, NCIT stated that more than 137,000 users have registered to the eFaas application. Over 440 services are provided through the portal.
