Over 600,000 tourist visits recorded in first four months

Ministry of Tourism has revealed that over 600,000 tourists have visited the Maldives so far in 2023.

The statistics from tourism ministry show that 626,392 tourists visited the Maldives as of April 19, which is a 19% increase compared to the 527,366 visits recorded in the same period last year. It also shows that around 100,000 tourist visits are recorded each month, with 102,000 visits recorded in the first 19 days of April.

Additionally, the largest number of tourists visited from Russia with 75,594 arrivals, while 66,630 tourists visited from India, 61,464 visited from the United Kingdom (UK), 52,564 visited from Italy, and 47,520 visited from Germany. A daily average of 1,231 tourists arrive in the Maldives and stay for an average of 7.9 days.

In addition, a total of 1,231 tourist establishments are open in the Maldives, consisting of 60,514 beds. Around 68% of the beds are in resorts, while 24% are in guesthouses, 5% in liveaboards, and 3% are in hotels.
