President praises military officers for exceptional service

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has praised the officers of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) for their exceptional service.

In a statement on the 131st anniversary of MNDF, President Solih sent his greetings to Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi, Chief of Defence Force, Major General Abdulla Shamaal, and military officers. He said that the administration is continuing to provide resources to strengthen the military force and safeguard the welfare of officers.

President Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed observed the official 131st anniversary celebrations of MNDF including a parade and route march in front of the President’s official residence. This year’s MNDF slogan is Military Comradeship – National Peace.

MNDF was established in the Maldives on April 21, 1892, and has since expanded its reach by establishing military bases across the country and improving logistical capabilities and training methods. The administration of President Solih has made significant improvements in the past four years by providing Maldivian military officers with opportunities to train in top military academies abroad as well as providing opportunities for female officers to climb the military ranks.
