Maldives seeing unprecedented level of peace: Gov’t

Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi has stated that the Maldives is seeing a level of peace that has never before been seen since establishing the democratic rule. She made the remark in her address at a special ceremony held to mark the 131st anniversary of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

At the ceremony, Minister Mariya said that the administration has established peace and security within the past four years after the country faced disorder following the establishment of a multi-party democracy. She said that the administration has been expanding the reach of the MNDF as part of its policy to equitably serve the people in all parts of the country, noting that military headquarters are being established in more regions.

Additionally, Minister Mariya noted that this year’s MNDF theme, Military Comradeship – National Peace, highlights the importance of having a disciplined military force that can protect the state, region, and citizens. She also expressed gratitude towards President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for prioritising the development of the MNDF and military officers.
