MPS urges to secure homes during Eid holidays

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has advised individuals to secure homes and properties before leaving for the Eid al-Fitr holidays.

Speaking to PSM News, Inspector of Police Ahmed Ramzy said that valuables should be kept safe before leaving for the holidays. As such, he advised individuals to keep valuables locked in a safe instead of keeping them out in the open. MPS advised individuals to make sure that their fanlights and windows were secured from the entry of burglars. MPS also stated to consider informing a trusted neighbor before leaving for the holidays.

Furthermore, MPS stated that it is also important to pay special attention to safety and security when travelling at sea. As such, MPS stated that the weather is the most important factor before leaving for the holidays. MPS advised passengers to check for weather permits and ensure that the vehicle is safe and advised caution when traveling from one island to another during the holidays.

Meanwhile, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has launched an operation to check if safety measures are implemented on sea vessels. MNDF will be conducting the operation until April 24.
