Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced the ceremony to sight the new crescent moon to mark the day of Eid al-Fitr in the Maldives will be held on April 20.
The decision of the sighting will be announced live on television and broadcast on the Islamic ministry's Facebook page. There will be a moon observation in all the islands of the Maldives to mark the official last day of the fasting month. If the moon is visible in an international country, the ministry will relay the information to the public.
The ministry declared March 23 as the first day of the month of Ramadan in the Maldives.
