The Maldives has expressed its strong support for the continuous efforts of Saudi Arabia to reach a comprehensive political solution to end the crisis in Yemen.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the recent meetings held in Sanaa from April 8-13 by the Saudi delegation, which was headed by the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Yemen Mohammad Al Jabir, building upon the initiative announced in March 2021, and the positive momentum created by the humanitarian truce in Yemen since its announcement by the United Nations (UN) in April 2022.
The Maldives called on all parties to respond positively to these efforts to achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people for development, prosperity, peace, and stability.
