Vice President calls for new approach to ensure road safety

Vice President Faisal Naseem has called for a whole-of-society approach to ensuring road safety and urged government offices, institutions, and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to support the Maldives Police Service (MPS) in increasing public awareness on the issue. He made these remarks while speaking at an awareness session held by MPS under its Fahiraastha campaign.

Speaking at the session, Vice President Naseem stated that all government offices, institutions, and SOEs are responsible for increasing awareness about road safety in their workplaces for their employees. He also called on the participants of the session to work towards improving road safety awareness at work and home.

Noting the high number of road accidents this Ramadan, Vice President Naseem called on all drivers to commit to ensuring the safety of themselves and other road users. The session, attended by senior officials of government offices and institutions and SOEs, featured a presentation on the number and causes of road accidents in the Greater Malé Region.
