Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced it is now accepting new proposals to facilitate Hajj pilgrimages, after nullifying the previous announcement.
The Islamic ministry received proposals from 11 companies interested in facilitating the travel of Hajj pilgrims, after accepting proposals from February 27 to March 14. However, the ministry has nullified the announcement to allow the companies to submit their proposals again.
The ministry stated that the submitted proposals had exorbitant prices for services and had not included their policies on facilitating the pilgrimage and other relevant information. As such, the ministry is accepting new proposals with a controlled price range of USD4,900-6,200. The pre-bid meeting will be held at 1000hrs in the ministry’s meeting room and proposals can be submitted by April 13.
The government of Saudi Arabia has allocated a quota of 1,000 slots for Maldivian Hajj pilgrims but the ministry has stated that discussions are being made to increase the quota. The Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited will be tasked with facilitating the travel of half of the Maldivian Hajj pilgrims this year while the other half of the quota will be distributed to three other companies that will be chosen based on the points received during the evaluation. Each approved company will receive 90 slots.
