Addu City Council has launched the development of the World Sports City (WSC) MANTA Surf Village.
The project aims to create a global surfing hub, culture, and entertainment. The project is supported by a consortium of international partners, including Jo Palma Partners Corporation, Gleeds International Limited, Thornton Tomasetti, and Alcral AG. The village will feature state-of-the-art technology providing a world-class surfing experience, a biosphere reserve, a sports academy, and luxury hotels.
Speaking to PSM News, Mayor of Addu City Ali Nizar said that it is a major project to develop tourism in Addu. He said the village will be developed with surfing and other water sports. In addition, he said that the council will welcome individuals who seek to bring investment to Addu. He also said that the council has consulted with a company from Türkiye to set up a 240-room tourist investment in Hithadhoo.
Addu City Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the partners to develop the WSC MANTA Surf Village. The project is expected to be completed by 2030.
