The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) buses will operate special services for school children on three routes in Hulhumale'. MTCC stated that the arrangement will be made until the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
MTCC stated that the arrangement is to ensure that children and parents do not have to wait for long hours during Ramadan. On non-official holidays, there will be a bus departing at 0805hrs on Route 7 and Route 8 and the bus will be available from 0750hrs at Bus Stop 1 in the Hulhumale' Hiya Flat area. The bus can accommodate one parent with each child.
In addition, there will be special buses for school children on Route 6 that operates from Hulhumale' Phase II to Phase I. The bus will only run from Phase 2 to the Synthetic Track Stop in Hulhumale' Phase 1 and the bus stop near Amin Avenue. MTCC has asked to contact its hotline for further information on the bus routes.
MTCC states that more than 25,000 individuals use the RTL bus service daily in Male' City. Offices and schools end at the same time during Ramadan which increases the demand for bus services. Therefore, MTCC has stated that it is currently working to increase the number of buses in service.
