The Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions has approved two nominations for the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) membership.
The committee has interviewed the four candidates nominated for the post and unanimously approved Shiham Mohamed Waheed and Shafa Shafeeq. Their names have been forwarded to the Parliament floor in order to take a vote on who will be appointed to MBC.
The names of four candidates for the MBC membership position were sent to the Parliament by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to replace Amjad Ibrahim, whose term as a member will end on March 15. The seven-member commission currently consists of Chairperson Maryam Waheeda, Vice Chairperson Mohamed Fazeen, and members Amjad Waheed, Ali Yusuf, Aminath Ameena, and Shifla Ibrahim.
