General guidelines for school students published

The general guidelines for school students have been published under the Education Act. The guidelines aim to standardise the rules students have to adhere to while at school.

The Ministry of Education highlighted the importance of having guidelines for students to set the standard for their behaviour outside of school. The education ministry was mandated to formulate the guidelines under the Education Act.

The education ministry has instructed schools, students, and parents to adhere to the guidelines, which consists of rules related to attendance and the enforcement of the uniform code. It also states that schools will now be required to seek permission from the ministry before being involved in television programmes, advertisements, or films.

The guidelines also ban students under the age of 16 from attending jobs and ban all students from being outside after 2200hrs without their parents’ permission. The ministry warned that it will take action on students who do not abide by the guidelines in accordance with the behaviour management policy.
