MIFCO establishes whistleblower hotline

The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has established a whistleblower hotline for the staff and public.

MIFCO stated that whistleblowers can report directly to the chairman of the audit and risk committee and the chief internal auditor through the MIFCO website and hotline. The company stated that a system has been put in place to maintain the anonymity of whistleblowers when they report to the audit department.

Whistleblowing is the act of disclosing information or activities that are considered illegal, unethical, or wrong within an organisation. The information may be about illegal activities, fraud, corruption, health and safety violations, or any other misconduct or wrongdoing. The purpose of whistleblowing is to expose and stop unethical or illegal practices, protect the public interest, and promote transparency and accountability within the organisation.
