Hajj Corporation seeks helpers for pilgrims

The Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited is once again seeking helpers for its clients that are planning to go on the Hajj pilgrimage.

Hajj Corporation initially announced it was seeking helpers on March 7 but did not receive enough applications. The corporation has now opened applications for male helpers.

Applicants are required to have a basic education and should have a minimum level of fitness to continuously provide assistance to pilgrims during their pilgrimage. Helpers will be tasked with providing information to pilgrims, preparing food, assisting them while shopping, and carrying items for them. Interested individuals are required to submit their application by 1500hrs on March 22.

The government of Saudi Arabia has provided a quota of 1,000 to the Maldives. However, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs revealed that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has personally requested Saudi Arabia to increase the quota to 2,500. The Islamic ministry will also split the quota among Hajj Corporation and three other companies, giving each company 90 slots in order to facilitate convenient trips for Hajj pilgrims.
