Chief Justice highlights challenges for women in judicial sector

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Ahmed Muthasim Adnan has stated that challenges faced by women in the judicial sector should be solved. He made the remark at the opening ceremony of the Maldives Women Judges Conference.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Justice Adnan said the challenges faced by female judges and employees of the judicial sector should be determined and solutions put forth. He highlighted the importance of implementing solutions at the administrative level and formulating policies to establish gender equality at the courthouses.

Also at the ceremony, President of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Hisaan Hussain said that the work to establish gender equality will be determined a success on the day when officials would no longer have to look at the statistics. She said that the involvement of more women in the workings of the judiciary will pave the way for justice to prevail to its fullest extent.

The Maldives Women Judges Conference provides a venue for female judges to gather and share their knowledge and experience as well as work together to provide solutions to the challenges they face in their work. The conference is split into seven sessions and will see the participation of local and international speakers.
