ACC requests prosecution of ex-president of Guraidhoo Council

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested the prosecution of the former president and vice president of Guraidhoo Island Council.

ACC submitted the names of former President Hussain Ahad and former Vice President Mohamed Sarah to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) after investigating a case involving the unlawful lease of a land plot in Guraidhoo, Thaa Atoll. They allegedly signed an agreement to lease the plot without making a tender announcement, which is against the policies for leasing plots for non-residential use.

As such, ACC requested the PGO to file charges against Ahad and Sarah for violating the Prevention and Prohibition of Corruption Act.
