Gov’t says Israeli airlines are not allowed to fly to Maldives

The President’s Office has stated that the government will not allow any Israel-based airlines to operate flights to the Maldives.

At a press conference, Spokesperson at the President’s Office Miuvaan Mohamed refuted claims from media outlets that an Israeli airline is preparing to operate flights to the Maldives. He said that no state institution has discussed such an initiative, highlighting that the two countries have not made an air service agreement or have any business ties. As such, he said there is no avenue for Israel to establish flight operations to the Maldives.

Some media outlets published reports citing an Israel-based newspaper stating that El Al Airline was planning to operate flights to the Maldives.
